Can't Say
As the champion of Sinnoh, Cynthia had access to many houses and villas across the regions. One such villa was located in a remote town on the edge of Sinnoh. Here she would work on her research, train her Pokemon and generally relax and take it easy between her busy time of defending her title as champion in the autumn and winter seasons. Spring and summer were her own time to as she wished.
She would usually invite some very special guests over to her house to spend some time with her. They were usually Gym leaders or Elite Four members, and they were invariably female. This of course led to a great deal of rumours speculating just what they did in that house. All of these were untrue of course, but their speculation was not without good reason. After all, Cynthia had never had a confirmed boyfriend, and she had turned down all potential suitors. So people just assumed that she wasn’t interested in love, which couldn’t have been further from the truth.
Today, the guest was a rather special one. Not because she was an Elite Four member or had any sort of high social ranking in the region. No, it was special because the person in question was just an ordinary trainer who had somehow managed to catch Cynthia’s eye.
“Wow,” Dawn marvelled as she stepped into the house, “It’s so beautiful!” She gazed in wonder at the beautiful paintings on the wall and the many different artefacts on the shelves. The walls were painted white, which made the pictures on the walls stand out more. It was just the kind of house Dawn had imagined Cynthia would live in.
“You’re too kind,” Cynthia said, “It’s really nothing fancy, I just like to hang up a few pictures to brighten things up. Anyway, I’m sure you’re hungry after that long flight. Would you like me to fix you up something to eat?”
“Oh no I’m f...” She was about to finish, but a large growling sound from her stomach interrupted her. Her face turned bright red with embarrassment. How could she make herself look like such an ungrateful and greedy person in front of Cynthia? But instead of looking disgusted like Dawn expected her to, Cynthia just smiled.
“I’ll take that as a yes,”Cynthia said cheerfully, “why you don’t take a look around while I go make some lunch.”
“O-okay, thank you so much,” Dawn said “I promise I won’t touch anything!”
Cynthia chuckled, “You’re so polite Dawn,” She said, “I can see why you’re so popular. Go on, I promise I won’t keep you waiting that long”
The house was a lot smaller than Dawn thought it would be. It was also surprisingly simple; Dawn thought that Cynthia’s house would be an elaborate mansion with a swimming pool, a huge library and other amazing things (maybe with a walk in freezer for ice-cream, considering how much of it she ate).
But here was a simple and ordinary house, with no secret passageways or special rooms. It was just a normal house with bedrooms, bathrooms and windows. Dawn wondered how such an amazing person could have such an ordinary house. When she had first met Cynthia Dawn had thought that she was a goddess who wouldn’t even give Dawn a passing glance.
But having got to know her Dawn realised that she was just a normal person, one who would help people out just because they asked her, who’s smile was radiant and made Dawn’s heart soar, who would listen to all her stories and never get bored, who would hug you when you were looking even a little sad, who loved her pokémon and always gave them attention, who was the most beautiful, kind and sweet person....
Dawn shook herself out of her trance. “I’ve got to stop thinking about Cynthia so much,” she muttered to herself, “I was only just lucky the last time.”
Her eyes then wandered to a door that was only slightly ajar. She carefully wandered over and opened it. Inside there was a very large mess that appeared to have a bedroom under it. There were papers thrown everywhere, on the desk, on the floor and even on the bed. There were some picture frames on the desk and a small makeup kit.
Dawn went over and picked one of the picture frames up. There was a picture of a much younger Cynthia; Dawn guessed she must have been about her age, with an adult woman with silver hair. In the picture it looked like Cynthia was blushing very hard. Dawn picked up another; again Cynthia was with a woman, and in the other and the other. There was one where she was with a young man with silver hair.
Dawn’s face turned chalk white, Cynthia must have had hundreds and hundreds of lovers, what made her so special. Cynthia probably had only brought her here as a friend, nothing more. How could she have been so foolish? There was no way that a beautiful, smart and intelligent woman like Cynthia would ever be interested in a plain girl like her. She was just an ordinary boring trainer, and Cynthia was a beautiful champion. She was unworthy of Cynthia, she was lucky just for this chance to visit her.
Dawn sighed, she would have to try and stay happy throughout this, as she didn’t want to make herself look ungrateful. She would also have to try and control herself when in the company of Cynthia. The last thing Dawn wanted was to do was make a fool of herself in front of Cynthia.
“It’s not like I’m doing anything unusual by asking her here,” Cynthia said to her pokémon. “I have had friends here all the time.”
Her Garchomp grunted. Years of being with her pokémon had ment that Cynthia knew what they were saying, even though they were speaking a different language. Trainers always could get an idea of what their pokémon was saying. It was a trait of a really skilled trainer to be able to decipher just what a pokémon was saying.
“Yes she is the first one I’ve invited alone,” Cynthia said as she stirred the noodles, “But that doesn’t mean anything! A-and this felling I get when I’m around her is...maternal, yes maternal!”
Her Lucario barked and the other pokémon nodded in agreement.
“What noises?” Cynthia asked in a shocked tone.
Her Milotic mimed someone sleeping.
“You...you know I’ve been dreaming about her?” All her pokémon nodded. “Oh...no...” Cynthia felt tears well up in her eyes and her breathing became heavy. “Why? Why do I feel this way? I haven’t felt this way in so long...and now...and now...” She wasn’t able to finish. Overcome with emotion Cynthia began to cry. All of her pokémon rushed to comfort her. Her Garchomp put one claw on her shoulder and growled softly.
“T-thank you,” Cynthia said, “I know all of you want me to be happy. But I CAN’T act on these feelings for Dawn. It’s not just what other people would think; it’d be easy to keep it a secret. It’s just that...Dawn’s just too innocent; she’s probably interested in boys anyway. There’s no way a sweet girl like her would be interested in me. She just sees me as a friend, n-nothing more.”
Cynthia fought back the tears; she knew that she would never convince Dawn to love her. And it would be wrong of her to try and do so anyway. Dawn was a bright young girl with her whole life ahead of her and she was just a silly woman with nothing to look forward to but more battles. It would never work.
Cynthia then noticed that the noodles were just about done. She calmed herself down and began to prepare for dinner. She told her pokémon to set the table and put out bowls for Dawns pokémon. Cynthia took a deep breath; she would have to control herself around Dawn. The last thing she wanted was to make a fool of herself in front of Dawn.
Dinner was a rather awkward affair. Every time one girl got up the courage to ask the other something the answer would have to be as short as possible to make sure that nothing unwanted slipped out. Even the simple act of passing the salt turned into a dance of unease, with Dawn making sure that her skin did not come into contact with Cynthia’s skin.
In contrast, the pokémon’s dinner was a very talkative affair. Cynthia couldn’t remember the last time that her pokémon had talked so much at dinner. She couldn’t help but feel that they were...planning something. But she dismissed it as just being her overactive imagination.
If dinner was awkward, then dessert was pure torture. Cynthia wondered throughout dessert just how Dawn could eat strawberries so...erotically. And Dawn couldn’t stand it when Cynthia would dip her finger into the ice-cream and lick it off. The meal was mostly spent in silence apart from shuffling around in their seats.
It was a relief to both of them when dinner was finished and everything was cleaned up. They both retired to the living room. Which was a large well furnished room with a piano and a fireplace, and in front of the fireplace there was a large soft couch. It was on this couch in which both Cynthia and Dawn sat. They were on opposite sides of the couch so as to avoid contact.
Dawn was surprised at Cynthia’s behaviour, usually she as always getting close to her and touching her. Dawn quickly shook herself out of her blissful trance where she remembered all the times Cynthia had touched her. She had to break the silence but how. She looked around and her eyes fell upon the piano.
“Um..hey Cynthia?” Dawn asked, “Do you play...the piano I mean?”
Cynthia jumped in surprise. “Um y-yes, would you like to hear me play?” She asked.
“OH YES!” Dawn shouted clapping her hands in excitement. “I-I mean...yes please” She mentally cursed herself for losing her composure.
“Okay, I hope you enjoy it” Cynthia got up and went to the piano. She sat down and looked over the music sheets, trying decide what piece to play. Having settled on a suitable one Cynthia began to play.
The music was a soft yet sorrowful, it was a melancholy piece. But underlying it was this sense of hope, a sense that maybe not all was lost. It fit Cynthia’s mood perfectly. This music was the most beautiful thing Dawn had heard, she sat there in bliss. Dawn lay back and let the music wash over her. She felt completely at peace, alone here with the one she loved, even if she would never be able to tell her that. She closed her eyes and sighed, this was the best thing that had ever happened to her.
Cynthia looked up from playing and saw Dawn lying back on the couch with her eyes closed and a smile on her face. Cynthia felt a strange feeling well up inside her. She wanted to go over there and hug Dawn and never let her go. She wanted to kiss her and cuddle her and feel her skin on hers. She tried to concentrate on playing but still the feeling remained. She was going crazy with this feeling, and it took all her strength to keep playing.
Then, without any warning, the lights went out. Dawn screamed and Cynthia abruptly stopped playing. Cynthia rushed over to Dawn and without thinking she hugged the poor frightened girl.
“Shh, it’s all right,” Cynthia said soothingly “I’m here and everything’s going to be...” Cynthia realised what she was doing and abruptly let go of Dawn. Dawn staggered backward and felt her face heat up. As she straightened herself up she could have sworn she had seen her Luxray through the window. And it looked like it had some wires in its mouth.
“We can’t fix the power this late at night.” Cynthia said, trying to keep her composure. “We’re going to need to light a fire.” As if on cue, Dawn’s Magmortar and Cynthia’s Roserade appeared near the fireplace. The Roserade was carrying a stack of wood, which it promptly put in the fireplace. The Magmortar spit some embers and started the fire.
Then Dawn’s Empoleon and Cynthia’s Garchomp came in carrying candles. They set them down and Magmortar light them. Dawn’s Gengar and Cynthia’s Lucario came in with a large blanket. They sat both Cynthia and Dawn down on the couch and wrapped them in the blanket. Then Cynthia’s Spiritomb came in with two mugs of hot chocolate hovering above it. It set them down on the table beside the couch. The pokémon, satisfied with their work left the room.
Cynthia and Dawn sat there dumbstruck. They wondered what had made their pokémon act so strangely. Dawn handed a hot chocolate to Cynthia and both of them began drinking. They were so dumbstruck that they did not realise that they were so close to each other. It was not until they finished their hot chocolate that they realised this fact.
The second Cynthia had finished the last drop of her drink, she realised that Dawn was in very VERY close proximity to her. She thought about moving, but they didn’t want to disturb the blanket for fear that it might upset Dawn. Dawn was distressed; this would have been the perfect moment to cuddle up with the one she loved. But she couldn’t, it wouldn’t be right. Cynthia deserved someone better that her, she fought back the tears as she tried to break free from the blanket.
Cynthia was in just as bad if not worse state of mind. She could just give up and hug and kiss Dawn now, but she couldn’t. It was wrong, she loved her. But Dawn didn’t love her back. It was wrong. Dawn deserved someone younger and more suited for her. It was wrong. She was just a pervert, a deviant. It was wrong, it was wrong, what she felt was WRONG. But it felt right.
Cynthia tried to stop herself from crying, but she failed. The tears fan down her cheeks like little rivers, and her breathing turned into racking sobs. She just totally lost control of her emotions, and she hid her face in her hands and cried even louder. Dawn was dumbfounded; Cynthia was usually so in control and happy. To see her like this was just...bizarre. She reached out and touched Cynthia on the shoulder. Cynthia turned and looked at Dawn, already her eyes were red from crying.
“Cynthia...” Dawn asked in a voice that was barely a whisper. “What’s wrong?”
Cynthia sniffed, she didn’t reply for a few seconds, and then said. “Dawn, we can’t be friends anymore.”
Dawn felt as if someone had driven an icicle through her heart. “WHAT!” She exclaimed, “W-why?”
Cynthia took a deep breath. It was now or never, she had to tell her and end this charade. It might hurt her but if she explained maybe they could depart on good terms.
“It’s because I love you” Cynthia said, “I’ve loved you for quite a long time, maybe since we first met. You were just so...bright and cheerful. So friendly and happy, so willing to help everyone, even people you had only knew for a few seconds. And so...beautiful, you’re beautiful Dawn and anyone who says otherwise is insane. I’m sorry I feel this way, but I can’t stop it. I’ve tried to stop but I can’t. I hope you can forgive me, but I can’t see you anymore. You need to lead a normal life away from me. You need...mphf.”
Cynthia’s little speech was cut off by Dawn’s soft lips on hers. At first she was shocked but soon she relaxed and began to kiss her back. Cynthia didn’t even care how it had happened all that mattered was that Dawn’s lips were now on hers. She cupped her hand onto Dawn’s cheek and felt her soft and smooth skin. Dawn was in heaven; she put her arm around Cynthia’s back and felt her soft hair. She could feel Cynthia’s hand on one cheek and her breath on the other. Both Cynthia and Dawn were locked in that position for a very long time.
Eventually they broke apart, and they both didn’t say anything for a very long time. Eventually Dawn broke the silence.
“I love you too” Dawn said.
“I-I guessed that,” Cynthia said, “We better thank our pokémon for doing all of this.”
“Uh hu,” Dawn said, “So what do we do now? Do we tell people or keep it a secret or...” Cynthia put a finger to Dawns lips.
“Let’s not think about that now,” Cynthia said, “Why don’t we just stay here and...do things.” Dawn’s face turned bright red and Cynthia laughed, “I mean talk and cuddle. We don’t have to do that..unless you want to?”
“W-well...”Dawn stammered, “Maybe later...but cuddling sounds like a good idea right now.”
Cynthia smiled, and Dawn smiled back. They then both curled up in each other’s arms and kissed. Here they were safe and secure in their love. Meanwhile, outside there were twelve pokémon cheering and jumping for joy. They began to celebrate the fact that both of their trainers had found good, strong mates. Now all they had to do was to get them to mate.
She would usually invite some very special guests over to her house to spend some time with her. They were usually Gym leaders or Elite Four members, and they were invariably female.
